About

Behind every positive case, hospitalization, and fatality there is a person, a family, and a story. However, these lives are spread out across the United States. To better understand the scale and scope of the Coronavirus, this application explores COVID-19 by visualizing all US fatalities as if they occurred in one geographic area.

How it Works
Click anywhere within the United States to view an area that would approximate all US fatalities.

Population is aggregated at the block group level. Locations of each dot are then randomized within each block group. One dot represents approximately 20 fatalities. The population living within the circle represents total US fatalities from COVID-19.

This application was inspired by the Brazilian Lupa App.
